Body

Using Color B, cast on 168 (182) stitches, place a marker, cast on another 168 (182) stitches for a total of 336 (364) stitches. Place a marker at the beginning of the round and join, being careful not to twist the stitches, and work corrugated ribbing in the colors listed as follows:

Row 1 - 3: K2 A, P2 B

Row 4 - 6: K2 C, P2 D

Row 7 - 9: K2 E, P2 D

Row 10 - 11: K2 F, P2 G

Row 12 14: K2 E, P2 D

Row 15 - 17: K2 C, P2 D

Row 18 - 20: K2 A, P2 B

Start body pattern: Repeat the 28 stitch chart 12 (13) times, joining in and breaking off colors as needed. Repeat the 32 rounds in the pattern until you have completed 80 (88) rounds from the start of the chart (i.e., not including the corrugated ribbing).

Begin Steeks

Put the first stitch of the round on a safety pin. Using the correct colors for this round, cast on 5 stitches with both colors, alternating them (4 steek stitches and 1 edge stitch). Keeping the chart pattern correct, work 167 stitches. Place the next stitch on a safety pin and cast on 10 stitches with both colors, alternating them (1 edge stitch, 8 steek stitches, 1 edge stitch). Keeping the chart pattern correct, work the last 167 stitches of the round, then cast on 5 stitches with both colors, alternating them (1 edge stitch and 4 steek stitches).

Continue working the body, always knitting the edge stitches in the background color, and alternating between the background and foreground colors for the steek stitches.

Work until you have completed a total of 135 (143) rounds. You will have just completed Round 7 (15) of the chart.

Shape Front Neck

Work the 4 steek stitches and 1 edge stitch at the beginning of the round, then pattern across 61 (67) stitches. Place the next 45 (47) stitches on a holder and cast on 10 stitches alternating the two colors (1 edge stitch, 8 steek stitches, 1 edge stitch). Work to the end of the round.

Keeping the chart pattern correct, decrease one stitch at each front neck edge (outside the edge stitch) 5 times, then on alternate rounds 4 (5) times.

Shape Back Neck

Work straight around the front. Pattern across 55 (60) stitches of the back. Place the next 57 (61) stitches on a holder and cast on 10 stitches alternating the two colors (1 edge stitch, 8 steek stitches, 1 edge stitch). Work to the end of the round.

Keeping the chart pattern correct, decrease one stitch at each back neck edge (outside the edge stitch) 3 times.

Work straight until you have completed 158 (166) rounds You will just have completed Round 30 (6) of the chart.

With B, graft or knit the shoulders together.

Neckband

Cut open the front and back neck steeks, between the 4th and 5th steek stitches. With B, pick up and knit the 57 (61) stitches from the back neck holder, then pick up and knit 23 (24) stitches to the front holder. Knit up the 45 (47) stitches from the front holder, then pick up and knit 23 (24) to the back neck. 148 (156) stitches.

Work rounds 1 11 of the corrugated ribbing and bind off in G and F.

Sleeves

Cut open armhole steeks between the 4th and 5th steek stitch. Knit the stitch on the safety pin in [D] and pick up 154 (167) stitches evenly around the armhole, picking up stitches between the edge stitch and first pattern stitch. Starting with Round 1, knit the first stitch in the background color, then starting with the first stitch of the chart, work the chart 5.5 (6) times. Always knit the first stitch in the background color.

Round 3: Knit the first stitch, k2tog, work to 2 stitches before the end of the round, ssk.

Continue working, decreasing two stitches every third round as described above until you have 76 (80) stitches remaining. 117 rounds you will have completed round 21 (129 rounds you will have completed round 1).

Work the first 17 rounds of corrugated ribbing as for the body and cast off.
